About Us

The Great American Promise has always been the opportunity for a great future.
And today, that promise for kids in Los Angeles is at risk.

The Stats

1 out of 4 children in Los Angeles County live in poverty.
1 out of 4 teens drop out of high school; high school dropouts are 8 times more likely to become incarcerated and 3 times more likely to be unemployed.
Only half (53%) of Los Angeles County youth are in the healthy weight zone.

About Metro Los Angeles

In a groundbreaking move, two long-standing Boys & Girls clubs and one new club have officially merged to form Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles. Recognizing the power of collaboration, the following three clubs are building a strategic partnership founded on a strong history of serving our communities:
Boys & Girls Club
of Bell Gardens

formerly operated by Rio Hondo Boys & Girls Club since 1960
Boys & Girls Club of
Nickerson Gardens

a newly created partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles
Spearheading Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles is newly appointed CEO, Calvin Lyons. A Club alumnus himself, Lyons joins the organization from Boys & Girls Club of King County in Seattle. Click here for Calvin's bio.

Through our programs and our commitment, we will help members stay on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
